Lincoln Memorial
Washington, DC
John Goodwin, a retired National Park Service Ranger, decided to take an Amtrak from San Francisco to Washington, DC. He shared on his socials that he was planning to protest at the Lincoln Memorial and invited anyone who wanted to join to meet there.  About 30 people joined him in holding signs and encouraging passersby to “call your representatives, send postcards, advocate for the parks.” The small but mighty protesting crowd felt grand with the cheering, thumbs up, and other support we received from the crowd.  John happily shared stories and let kids try on his ranger hat.
The day was inspiring. It felt good to have something to during these crazy times, and to meet people and animals (shout out to Cedrick the Husty for representing all of the Bark Rangers) who align with my passion and commitment to the parks. Friendships and social followers are created on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial…or other protest locations.
This weekend (March 22, 2025), Resistance Rangers are spearheading another day of protest across the country.  I encourage you to find a park near you and participate in (or start) a protest. Let your voice be heard…Protect Our Parks…and public land.
